Brand Stories: Martino Gamper

Born in Shoreditch, Made for Your Home Meet the Arnold Circus Stool

Some designers change the shape of objects. Others change the way we see them. Martino Gamper does both with a quiet confidence and a sense of play that feels right at home here at Space Of Kin.

His approach to furniture is anything but ordinary. Based in East London, Martino’s studio sits in the heart of the Boundary Estate, London’s first council housing project a place layered with history, community, and creative energy. And it’s here that the story of the Arnold Circus Stool begins.

Originally designed in 2006 as part of a regeneration project for nearby Arnold Circus, the stool was created to be as functional as it was joyful. Stackable. Lightweight. Weatherproof. Easy to carry to local brass band concerts and flower planting days. It was made for real use by real people.

Nearly two decades later, it’s become a design icon.

A Stool With a Story

Made from durable, recyclable polyethylene plastic, the Arnold Circus Stool is equally at home indoors or out. Its unique silhouette gives it sculptural charm, while its colour palette ranges from soft pastels to bold primaries each one a small moment of joy in your space.

Whether you’re looking for a perch in the hallway, a side table in the living room, or a playful accent for your garden, this stool adapts without ever blending in. It’s practical, yes but never forgettable.
